② Visa extension — for foreigners already in Vietnam
Stay longer without leaving the country
Tourist visas (DL) cannot be extended — once expired you must exit and reapply. Only Business (DN), Labour (LĐ), Investment (ĐT) and Family-visit (TT) visas qualify, and a valid sponsoring entity or individual is required.

③ Temporary Residence Card (TRC)
Long-term residence, no more repeat visa runs
Eligible applicants only: holders of a work permit valid for 1+ year · investors or business owners with an investment certificate · spouses and children of Vietnamese citizens or existing TRC holders. Tourists do not qualify.

Visa FAQs
What is the difference between an e-visa and a sticker visa?
An e-visa is issued electronically before you fly — you receive a PDF to print or show on arrival, with no embassy visit required. Sky Excellent completes and files your application on the official evisa.gov.vn portal for you.
Can an expired tourist visa (DL) be extended?
No. A tourist visa can only be extended while still valid. Once expired you must exit and apply afresh. Only Business (DN), Labour (LĐ), Investment (ĐT) and Family-visit (TT) visas are eligible for extension, and a valid sponsoring entity or individual is required.
How does a residence card (TRC) differ from repeated visa extensions?
A TRC is valid for 1–10 years and fully replaces repeated visa applications — suited to employees, investors, or family members of Vietnamese citizens residing long-term. Tourists are not eligible.
I live in a province and cannot visit your office — is that a problem?
Not at all. For visa extensions and TRCs we file online through the National Public Service Portal, and you post your original passport following our instructions.
